Plans for the Future
New ministries are beginning or in the planning
stages at Love INC. What this means is that we are looking at
specific needs in the community that are not being met and designing a way
for churches to minister to that need. Since these ministries are in
the early stages of development, we cannot guarantee that they will
actually become available. But here are some of our dreams.
Food Purchase, Preparation and Nutrition.
We began offering classes to qualifying low-income persons in early
2003. We hope to expand and offer these classes in
a church kitchen, and to have the group begin with a short devotional or
Bible study and prayer, followed by the class itself, and then concluding
with eating together the results of the cooking lesson. We have
donated ground beef on hand. We have a nutrition/food preparation
teacher. Needed to make this happen: a church kitchen and a few
church members to embrace the class by leading the devotional and prayer
time, and by staying around to make new friends.
Adopt
an Elder. Working with
area nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement villas, we
are researching ways to provide companionship and visitors to the
elderly. Some of these activities are already in place; others are
in the research and design phase.
Adopt
a Single Parent. It is difficult to raise children
as a single parent. Multitudes of everyday stresses can be
alleviated with a team of caring friends. We are researching and
planning ways to provide real caring, support and help to single parents
in our community, through the wonderful Christians found in Gallatin
County churches.
