Quilts of Compassion
Can you sew? Can you measure or cut fabric
pieces? Or, could you provide fabric pieces or batting to a ministry
group? Love INC's Quilt Ministry can use you!
Love INC teamed up with the Christian Missionary Sewing
Project (a group from some of our partner churches) in late 2002.
The purpose of this partnership was to distribute warm and welcome
handmade quilts to our neighbors in need. Since its beginning with
the Sewing Project group, Love INC's Quilt Ministry has expanded to include independent
quilters from other partner churches and local quilting groups.
These homemade quilts meet a very special
need. They are given to individuals who
suffer from severe physical trauma or illness and who are somewhat
isolated during their moment of great physical need. They need to know they
are not alone in their suffering and that Christians are praying for them. Love INC works in collaboration
with Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to identify potential quilt recipients -
patients of the hospital in need.
In addition to these quilts, the Quilt Ministry also
provides personalized infant-sized quilts to parents who grieve the loss
of an infant or who have suffered a miscarriage. In December, 2002,
thirteen infant quilts were given to grieving parents. Again, Love INC works
in collaboration with Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to identify the people
who will receive quilts.
Love INC seeks to involve church volunteers, utilizing
their gifts and talents, to minister to material, emotional and spiritual
needs of Gallatin County residents. The Quilt Ministry is one way
Love INC involves and coordinates volunteers from several churches to
minister to the emotional needs of our neighbors.
